On August 13, 2018, H.R. 5515 – John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 was signed into law. Specifically, section 889 of this law, titled “Prohibition on Certain Telecommunications and Video Surveillance Services or Equipment”, prohibits the use of video surveillance and telecommunications equipment and components manufactured by specific vendors and their subsidiaries for US government projects.
Many of EtherWAN's customers are federal agencies or state agencies that receive funding from the federal government for projects. EtherWAN Systems is fully committed to complying with all trade regulations.
For telecommunications equipment, network equipment included, EtherWAN is fully compliant and does not source any critical networking components from the list of companies or affiliates specified in section 889.
All of EtherWAN's networking products are also TAA-compliant for federal projects. TAA stands for Trade Agreements Act (19 U.S.C. § 2501-2581), intended to foster fair international trade with designated countries. EtherWAN's networking products are eligible for use under GSA guidelines.
